New research from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and Jet Propulsion Laboratory provides fresh evidence that the Moon is geologically more active than thought. The researchers, in two separate, but related studies, found that a cooling interior is causing the Moon to shrink… the shrinking is causing the lunar surface to crack and shift, which in turns triggers tectonic activity that produces moon quakes between 2 and 5 on the Richter Scale.
