Science in a Minute 100719 Center of Milky Way Exploded Three Million Years Ago
A new study, in the Astronomical Journal, provides evidence of a colossal explosion at center of the Milky Way some 3 million years ago. The study suggests the explosion sent out powerful beams of radiation through the Milky Way and thousands of light-years into deep space. The study authors say the explosion was too enormous not to have been from nuclear activity associated with Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way.
