Science in a Minute 101419 New Blood Test May Provide Early Detection of Aortic Aneurysms
A team of researchers, led by Scotland’s University of Dundee, has developed a new blood test that could provide early detection of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Once the aneurysm ruptures there’s an estimated 80% chance of the patient dying. Many of those with this condition remain undiagnosed since there are often no detectable symptoms. The condition is often detected during a routine medical exam or by ultrasound imaging of the heart or abdomen.
