Science in a Minute 010720 Earthbound Doctor Treats ISS Astronaut with Potentially Deadly Condition
NASA called on “blood clot” expert Dr. Stephan Moll, of the University of North Carolina, to help treat an International Space Station astronaut who had a potentially deadly condition. The astronaut patient had developed a deep vein thrombosis or blood clot in his jugular vein. Dr. Moll and NASA doctors, who were all Earthbound, diagnosed and developed a successful treatment plan that was self-administered by the ISS astronaut.
