Floods, Mudslides in Colombia, Venezuela Kill More than 80

The death toll from torrential rains and landslides in Colombia and Venezuela has risen to at least 83.

Heavy flooding has destroyed thousands of homes and forced thousands of people to flee for higher ground.

Rescue officials say the heavy rains washed away roads and left many people without access to food, water, and electricity.

At least 33 people have been reported dead in Colombia, while 50 are dead in Venezuela. Many more are still missing.

The torrential rains hit late last week, pummeling the Colombian provinces of Santander and Norte de Santander and the Venezuelan state of Merida.
