Speedskater Ohno Disqualified in S. Korea

American speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno has been disqualified from his first race in South Korea since winning the 2002 Olympic title, a World Cup men's 1,500 meters short track event in Seoul.

Ohno was disqualified for pushing South Korea's Lee Ho-suk one-and-one-half laps from the end of the race. South Korea's Ahn Hyun-soo won the race in two minutes, 19-point-783 seconds. Canada's Mathieu Turcotte was second (2:20.17) while Lee was third (2:20.364).

The incident was reminiscent of Ohno's 2002 Olympic win over South Korean Kim Dong-sung. Kim was disqualified for blocking Ohno in the men's 1000 meters final in Salt Lake City.

Meanwhile in the women's 1500 meter event, China's Yang (A) Yang won the gold in two minutes, 22.933 seconds. Bulgarian Evgenia Radanova was second (2:23.097) with Jin Sun-yu of South Korea third (2:23.795).
