In National Basketball Association action, The Phoenix Suns almost blew a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter, but managed to hold off the charging Los Angeles Lakers, 122-112.

The Sun's Shawn Marion had 30 points and 11 rebounds while teammate Steve Nash added 12 points and 17 assists in Thursday's win in Los Angeles. The Lakers were led by Kobe Bryant with 39 points.

In the only other NBA game, Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal had 27 points and Ron Artest added 22 as the Pacers held off the host Miami Heat, 105-102. Dwayne Wade led the Heat with 31 points and 10 assists.
