NBA: Pacers Beat Heat


Ron Artest scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Indiana Pacers to a 95-90 win over the Miami Heat in National Basketball Association action Wednesday night.

Miami had a chance to tie the game at 93 in the closing seconds, but Antoine Walker missed a three pointer and the Pacers' Stephen Jackson got the rebound. After being fouled, Jackson hit two free throws to seal Indiana's second win over the Heat in less than a week.

In Boston, Ricky Davis made a jump shot as time expired as the host Celtics edged the Memphis Grizzlies 99-98.

In Cleveland, Lebron James scored 31 points and Larry Hughes added 13 as the Cavaliers posted a 112-85 home win over the Seattle Supersonics.

Elsewhere, Tim Duncan scored 29 points and Tony Parker had 23 to lead the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs to a 94-86 win over the Charlotte Bobcats.

In other NBA action, the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Dallas Mavericks 112-97, the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Washington Wizards 102-97, the New Jersey Nets got past the Utah Jazz 91-83 and the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 88-74. The New York Knicks remain winless this season after falling to the Portland Trail Blazers 95-83, the Orlando Magic beat the New Orleans Hornets 88-83, the Chicago Bulls edged the Golden State Warriors 85-84 and the Denver Nuggets beat the Sacramento Kings 107-91.
