Paris Hilton is well after spending her first night in jail. Speaking June 4, her attorney Richard Hutton said the celebrity hotel heiress is using her 23-day sentence "To reflect on her life, to see what she can do to make the world better and, hopefully, in my opinion, to change the attitudes that exist about her among many people."
Hilton checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in suburban Los Angeles just after 11:30 p.m. on June 3. She is incarcerated for violating her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.
The "Simple Life" star primped for the camera in her booking photo, wearing a V-necked shirt, eye makeup, and lip gloss.
Paris Hilton is housed in a "special needs" unit, separate from the majority of the 2,200 female inmates. The unit contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities, and other high-profile inmates.
Her cell contains two bunks, a table, a sink, a toilet, and a small window. The website TMZ.com reported that while authorities initially screened a cellmate, it was decided to keep Paris Hilton in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day.
