An Egyptian military court has barred observers from a session of a trial of 40 Muslim Brotherhood members charged with money-laundering and financing an illegal organization.
Brotherhood members say some relatives of the accused were allowed into court. But they say observers, including representatives from Amnesty International, were prevented from attending Sunday's session.
They say the court examined financial documents related to the charges before adjourning until August 19th.
Also Sunday, Egyptian authorities arrested 14 other members of the banned Islamist group outside Cairo.
The detentions are the latest in a government crackdown. The Brotherhood says Egyptian authorities are holding more than 500 of its members.
Egypt officially banned the group in 1954. But the Muslim Brotherhood is Egypt's largest opposition party and frequently fields candidates as independents in Egyptian elections. It currently controls about one-fifth of the seats in parliament's lower house.
The group seeks to transform Egypt into an Islamic state through democratic reforms.
