Chinese Man Sentenced to Death for Killing 8 Children

A Chinese court has sentenced a former doctor to death for killing eight children outside their school in eastern Fujian province last month.

Forty-one-year-old Zheng Minsheng admitted to intentionally killing the children on March 23 as they arrived for classes.

He was convicted of the murders Thursday after a four-hour trial in the southeastern city of Nanping.

During the trial, prosecutors played video clips showing him stabbing the children with a knife.

According to Xinhua, Zheng repeatedly told the court he had been rejected by a woman and suffered unfair treatment by her family, making him feel worthless.

China's official Xinhua news agency says five other children were injured in the attack, with one remaining in intensive care.
