Danish police say they have found the head and legs of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, who went missing in August after boarding a homemade submarine with Danish inventor Peter Madsen.
Copenhagen police inspector Jens Moller Jensen told reporters Saturday that divers off the Danish coast had found bags containing Wall's head, legs, clothing, and heavy objects that could have been used to weigh the bags down in the water.
Jensen said a forensic dentist confirmed on Friday that the head belonged to Wall. Her torso was found in waters near Copenhagen on August 21, 11 days after she went missing.
Madsen, 46, the inventor, has been in police custody since August 11. He claims Wall died on board the craft when she was hit in the head by a heavy metal hatch door. He said he panicked and threw her body overboard.
But police said Saturday that examination of Wall's head confirms that she had no blunt trauma to the head. However, the torso was found to have multiple stab wounds, including mutilation wounds to the victim's sexual organs.
Earlier this week, investigators said they found computer files in Madsen's workshop containing fetish films in which women were tortured. Madsen said the films were not his. He said multiple people have access to his workshop.
Wall, 30, worked as a freelance journalist based in New York and China.
