The space, at the ISS, left open when a 20-year-old module named Pirs was recently removed, was filled by Russia’s new Nauka Multipurpose Laboratory Module on Thursday, July 29, at 1329 UTC. However, several hours after docking, NASA reported an unplanned firing of the module’s thrusters, which caused the ISS to move out of alignment. NASA says the ISS has since been realigned and its crew was never in danger during the mishap.
