Q&A Williams & Lieven / Pakistan Killings / In Pakistan, the lead prosecutor investigating the murder of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, and the 2008 bombing attacks in Mumbai, India, has been shot dead in Islamabad. Chaudry Zulfikar was shot multiple times today by attackers on a motorbike. His bodyguard was wounded and a passer-by was killed when his car hit her. Zulfikar's attackers fled. Police also said a candidate for the national assembly was shot and killed in Karachi, as violence spikes ahead of May 11 elections. Anatol Lieven chairs international relations at the War Studies Department of King's College London, and is the author of the book, Pakistan: A Hard Country. He tells VOA’s Sarah Williams about the significance of this killing coming at this time.
