Aung San Suu Kyi on Human Rights Violations in Rakhine State
update
Myanmar's de-facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi condemned human rights violations taking place in western Rakhine state, where ongoing violence has led to more than 400,000 ethnic Rohingya Muslims to flee to neighboring Bangladesh in recent weeks. "We condemn all human rights violation and lawful violence. We are committed to the restoration of peace, stability and rule of law throughout the state," she said in a national speech, Sept. 18, 2017.
