The deal struck in March between Turkey and the EU to stem the flow of migrants envisages visa-free travel for Turkish citizens to Europe. Brussels has repeatedly delayed the move because of concerns over Turkey's broad anti-terrorism laws and its crackdown after the attempted coup earlier this year. But as Henry Ridgwell reports, many Turks living in the rural east of the country sense an opportunity to escape poverty and start a new life once visa free travel is allowed.
